Whitmarsh Valley Country Club Golf & Grounds Master Plan Philadelphia, PA
2019 - Under Construction
Whitemarsh Valley Country Club engaged Ground Control to develop a Master Plan that could identify immediate and long-term improvements related to the historic golf course and country club grounds designed by the well known golf course architect George C. Thomas, Jr.. Working closely with the golf course superintendent, Ground Control developed a plan for the entire 130 acre campus.
The plan recommends a series of catalytic projects to improve wayfinding and a sense of procession into the club as well as naturalizing areas for textural interest as well as a reduction in maintenance and irrigation. Long term projects include the restoration of Wissahickon Creek and stormwater management on-site and the transition of many underutilized lawn spaces into pastures of native grasses to reduce maintenance and restore the original aesthetic of the course experience.
