Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy is a 20 Acre resort in the Pak Kong area of Hong Kong. The project transforms former industrial land into a lush mountain escape. The project is a collaboration between Robert AM Stern Architects and OLIN. The site design integrates the project into the 60m of grade change across the site - creating a cascading landscape that provides a variety a different outdoor spaces. The design is a balance between flexible gathering areas c and intimate areas. The project utilizes locally quarried stone and a rich planting palette of native trees and vegetation. The open space sequence is focused around a linear water element that emulates the adjacent mountain stream. Water features appear and disappear creating a sense mystery and discovery, imbuing a sense of Landscape Imagination. Will collaborated closely with RAMSA to fully integrate the buildings into the landscape and to create a living architecture. A 6-hole golf course and driving range, design by Jack Nicklaus, is also incorporated into the project. All stormwater is carefully managed and linked to a series of underground cisterns for reuse as irrigation.
Will was the Project Manager and Landscape Architect for the Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy while at OLIN.
